1.WH-Questions
Question words are used to ask about specific qualities, times, places, people, etc. They are different from yes / no questions (Do you live in France?).
2.Presenting Information
When you give a presentation, how you deliver the information is just as important as what you say. Knowing your subject well and knowing your audience are both very important for your preparation but there are other considerations. Below are some of the things to consider in order to make a good presentation – maybe you can add to them. Make a list of the features in your order of priority, then compare and discuss your list with the rest of the group.
3.Explaining Concepts and Ideas
You do not need complex language to explain complex ideas but you do need clear, well-structured speech. Read the paragraph explaining the concept of TQM. ‘TQM stands for Total Quality Management. This is a system which involves the whole company in the management of the quality of its services or products. For example, using the system to identify needs, agree aims, and allocate responsibilities. So, TQM can be seen as a strategy to improve quality management in its broadest sense.’
4.Telephone Expressions
Useful telephone vocabulary and phrases in English
5.Giving, Getting & Checking Information
Example:
1.Giving:
-Can I help you?
-Here’s our latest brochure
-Prices start at ...
2. Getting:
-How much is/are ...?
-Do you have ...?
-Could you give some information about...?
3. Checking:
-Let me know if you want any more help, won’t you?
-How much did you say this product is?
6.Conversation and Small Talk
Part of developing a new friendship is making small talk, or initiating a conversation using basic topics that are safe to talk about with someone you don't know yet. Small talk subjects often include the weather or what you do for a living, but another strategy is to talk about something around you.
